Frequently Asked Questions
How long can our unopened products be stored?
In general, our products are good for 2 years. They still are safe to eat after that point because they are "shelf stable;" however, the color, texture and taste may change over time. For the best quality, store our products in a cool, dark, dry place. Try not to store them on a shelf exposed to sunlight, above the stove, in a garage or any place exposed to high or low temperature extremes.
What is the numeric code on label? Is it the expiration date?
The manufacturing code or date (MFG) is the date we produced the product. For example, "010113" means we made that product on January 1, 2013. If there is a "Best By" code, then the product should be consumed by that date for its best quality.
How long can I keep these products once they have been opened?
Once opened, the hummus, salsa, maple pumpkin butter, etc. should be refrigerated and are best enjoyed within two weeks. Once opened, the mustards can be kept refrigerated up to a year.
I opened a few jars to sample at a party. Can I safely keep the leftovers?
It's best to only put out what you think you'll use. Once you open a jar you should consider it a perishable. Throw away any perishable food left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if the temperature was above 90 ?F). (Source: FDA.gov)
